SMOONSTYLE

When I don't know what make up to wear, I always go back to my 'fail-save-look'. It is a universally flattering look, inspired by pin-up make up.

There is probably no woman that doesn't have a red lipstick in their make up drawer. Normally I would use a liquid lipstick. In this case, because it involves eating somewhat oily and greasy food, it is better to use a more emollient red lipstick. They are easier to reapply. Just my two scents.

Here are the products that I used to create this look.

Revlon Colorstay 180 Sand Beige
Concealer Tarte Shape Tape in Light Neutral

I love it when I got mail from Linda Hallberg. She is insanely talented and also a lovely person. When I opened Metallic Mysteries, my first response was wow! Gamma and Collision scream my name.

It hurt a bit to swatch these babies. The 3D print is so gorgeous, but I had to give you all a look on how they swatch. On the left, the colors are applied 'dry' and on the right wet. Collision will be part of my Christmas make-up! Already started to play with them and will post a look later.

Metallic Mysteries is cruelty-free and vegan.

Thanks Lin for thinking of me!

Inspired by MAC Cosmetics cult lipsticks, five scents were made. Creme de Nude appealed to me the most. During the beginning of the European tour I went to a MAC store and decided to finally buy it. I have been tempted to get this scent a couple of times, but always refrained. This time I had my pro card with me and that meant 30% off the normal price. They only had one of the Creme de Nude Shadescents left. That probably means that it is a popular.

A friend of mine is extremely talented when it comes to describing scents. I am not so I will copy what is written on the website: "A scent capturing the vibrant sexiness of clean, radiant, glowing skin through a cocoon of velvet musk."

A mouthful, but it does describe the character of the perfume. It has a warm, fuzzy feel to it, like wearing a warm jumper.

I have been wearing this perfume almost all the time from the moment I purchased it. When I wear it now, it takes me back to the great memories that I gathered during our tour with Myrath and Vuur.

Did any of you try the shade scents?

The baking season has started. Honestly, I always bake. In autumn and winter a bit more than normal. But let's face it. My oven is always working.

One of my favorite YouTubers, Funnypilgrim/Yummypilgrim shared a lovely gingerbread man recipe that I wanted to try. On the hunt for the spices I went. Sold out everywhere. We all got the baking fever and so it took me a while to get the spices. In my spice drawer I found some old 'Lebkuchen Gewürz' and decided to take the chance.

For this lovely Gingerbread cake and cake pops you will need:

THE CAKE
  • 220g flour
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • 3 tbsp gingerbread spices
  • Dash of salt
  • 50ml oil (I use sunflower oil)
  • 50g apple sauce or one egg in case you are vegan
  • 50g molasses
  • 100ml water or dairy-free milk

THE GLAZE
  • 1 tbsp apricot jam
  • 1 tbsp of water
  • 100g molten dark chocolate (vegan or non-vegan)

DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius.
Mix the dry ingredients and then add the wet ingredients.

Place the batter in the oven for about 30 to 40 minutes and always check with a tooth pick to see if it comes out clean when you pierce it in the middle.

Now we get to the cake pop part. My cake was not very pretty because I couldn't get it out of the baking tin. It looked quite destroyed. I cut off the top, bottom and sides to turn it into a rectangular shape. The left over cake I crumbled and mixed with a little bit of marmelade. Just enough to bind the crumbs together.

Melt the chocolate of your choice, it can be milk, semi sweet or even white chocolate. It's up to you! Since I had milk chocolate on hand, I went for that option.

I decorated the cake and added some chopped almonds, amaretti cookies and cranberries! Delicious! For the cake pops I went a little crazy and used all the fun toppings that I still had at home.

My tip for cake pops would be to first dunk the sticks in the molten chocolate and then push them in the cake balls. Let them cool upside down in the fridge for 10 minutes before you add the chocolate and decorate them.

The video for the cake you can find here: Cake
Mira (funnypilgrim) also has her own cookbook 'Yummy Kitchen' available (in German).
