Hello Sweets,

Kryolan organized a wonderful day for the meet and greet winners and me. We were given a tour through the factory by Dominik Langer and gained more insight on the history, philosophy and production from Kryolan. After our tour we had a lunch together with Dominik and talked about everything from make up to touring anecdotes.

The next stop was the Kryolan shop in Berlin where all the girls were given a little make over and make up tips. In the end I showed them a day time version of one of my stage looks.

We all had a lovely day together. Unfortunately three of the girls couldn't make it in the end. We will compensate it in another way.

Thanks for Kryolan for opening their doors for us. We enjoyed it very much! I hope the girls all got home safe!

Love,

  1. As a kid I loved to go grocery shopping with my grandpa. He would always buy me candy.
  2. I am not the best swimmer. When I dive, I fall flat on top of the water and close my nose.
  3. I tried to make lemonade by putting one skittle in a mini cup of water in my little baby kitchen.
  4. I liked camping in my own yard, during the day.
  5. I only loved Carnaval as a kid because of the make up and candy.
  6. My sister and I wanted to start a girl band.
  7. My first best friend was a woman of color. We were separated because she had to move away. I was heartbroken.
  8. I always wanted to have brown eyes, I love brown eyes!
  9. I made an unwanted salto with my sisters bike and didn't get a scratch.
  10. During the recordings of 'The Phantom Agony' I was hospitalized with 41.5 degrees Celsius fever. I was red like a lobster.
  11. I like to wear my dad's glasses to pretend I am Andy from 'Little Britain', although I go temporary blind afterwards. He's got 6+.
  12. When my sister and me were pulling ropes, I fell through a glass door. Not a scratch.
  13. The sound of rain on a roof top is pure relaxation. That is when I am inside.
  14. The smell of extinguished candles reminds me of Christmas.
  15. I value my privacy and personal space.
  16. My days have 25 hours. I wish.
  17. I do like some songs from Evanescence. Tourniquet is my favorite.
  18. I have no sense for direction. I always walk in the wrong direction (same with choosing lines at the checkout). My inner navigation system is defect.
  19. I've been told that I can cook very well.
  20. I don't like to clean after cooking.

Hi Sweets,

When I was cleaning up my magazine stash, I stumbled upon a wonderful make up look from Amber Heard. She is absolutely gorgeous!

Below you can find my version of her look. I don't look anything like her, I have a different eye shape, but tried my best to come as close as I could to her make up. There was no information about the products that were used on her, so I recreated it by eye with the products I own. All you need for this look are:

  • A black eyeliner
  • Eyeshadows in the color; black, brown, a shiny champagne colored eyeshadows
  • Warm nude lipstick with a glossy finish
  • Peachy blush
  • Your favorite mascara and eyebrow products

I didn't even contour my face, since my cheekbones protrude.

Hello Sweets,

I've got some exciting news for all those that love make up and would like to meet with me in make up heaven.

Kryolan is organizing a meet and greet with me on the 7th of March in Berlin. On this day we are granted access to their factory, where we can see with our own eyes how the magic is done. We will go to Kryolan City where a make up artist will be present and of course you will receive a goodie bag! Doesn't that sound amazing? What you have to do in order to win is:

  1. Guess which one of these four pictures below is the correct red shade of lipstick that I am wearing at the Kryolan photoshoot. You can say I, II, III, IV.
  2. Create your own pin up look.
  3. Post your answer and picture on twitter with the hash tags; #kryolan #kryolips @KryolanOfficial @simonesimons.
  4. The contest is worldwide, but travel and lodging expenses won't be paid for.

The contest ends on March 1st. Good luck!!

Kryolan Kisses,

Hello Sweets,

Today I want to show you what I am currently using to fill in my eyebrows. I've received many questions about what I use, so I thought it was about time to share it with my fellow red heads. I have used numerous products for my brows, but right now I like to keep it simple. For daytime brows I normally just use my Catrice Eye Brow Stylist in 010 Blond but Brow'd. It has a slight hint of red, just enough to keep the brows in line with the hair. If you use products with too much red in them, it can look a bit clownesque.

When I want to fill in my brows for a stronger look (for photo shoots, concerts etc.) I tend to use matt powder eyeshadows/bronzers in combination with the pencil. MAC's 'Bamboo' and 'Texture' are good options when it comes to matt eyeshadows. If those are too red for you, you might want to try the Urban Decay 'Naked' palette, they have two colors which are great for brows; naked and buck. Then there is also a bronzer that I like to use and that is 'Laura Mercier's' Dune Bronzer. That is one of my most loved products because I also use it for eyeshadow as well as contouring. A great multi task products for all different shades of skin and great for redheads too!

A little tip about sharpening all make up pencils in general; I saw someone in my family use the 'Faber-Castell' pencil sharpener, which is basically used for the office. However, I have never gotten my pencils this sharp and without them breaking. The only disadvantage is that it is quite big, but it is super sturdy and won't mess up your make up bag like so many other sharpeners tend to do. I bought my sharpener at a german supermarket called 'Rewe'. It is around €3, but you can also buy it on Amazon.de, it even comes with some pencils, but those are for the office, not the beauty corner. ;)

I use the upper sharpener.
Before.
After.

Hi Sweets,

During my visit in Heidelberg, I jumped into a 'Rituals' shop. I am a real Rituals fanatic. I have all their shower foams, body creams and deodorants. This 'Yin' calming bed and body mist was something new to me. I took a sniff and was sold right away. I didn't buy it yet, but at our way back to the car, I went inside the shop again and got myself some calming night spray, so I thought.

Soon after buying it I found out that the spray top was defect. The tester at the shop was spraying a nice mist, mine was more like a straight stream coming out of a garden hose. Whenever I would spray myself or my pillow with this heavenly scented 'mist', it looked more like I was marking my territory with puddles. I tried to open the spritzer with a needle, tried to exchange the cap, but nothing happened. So I took it back with me to the Netherlands, since I don't have a Rituals shop near my home in Germany. Unfortunately, the V&D that carried Rituals didn't have this spray. Damn. I am now going to empty it, one puddle at the time. It also kind of hurts to spray it on myself, the distance is not making it appear nicer. It is just a plain stream, no mist in sight.

Another option that remains is to put it into one of my Travelo's. However, they are all filled with perfume and I don't like to mix perfumes. I guess I have to get a new dispenser somehow, or just spray it on my pillow.

Do any of you have some advise for me?

I will mark my territory in my bed and go to sleep.

Sleepy kisses,

Hello Sweets,

May I introduce to you my favorite drugstore Red Lip of this moment; It is the Rival de Loop Young 'Red Earth nr. 18'. I got it on sale for €1, normally it costs €1,69. This doesn't put a dent in our wallets like the high end brands tend to do and Rival de Loop is the home brand from a German drugstore called 'Rossmann'. Rival de Loop has a fantastic range of products. Their duo make up remover is also very loved among the beauty bloggers, although I have to say that it burns my extremely sensitive eyes, still the majority loves it. You might want to give it a try.

This lipstick has the perfect red shade for everyday use. It is semi opaque, has micro gold glitter, which you almost can see with your bear eyes, you need to zoom in on the picture to see it.   It is very moisturizing, long lasting and very comfortable. The scent kind of reminds me of the Haribo cherry gums. The packaging isn't much, but therefor it doesn't weigh two kilos like my Rouge Guerlain, and is easy to take with you. Your handbag won't weigh you down, unless you do like to take your whole household with you, which a lot of women out there seem to do. The bigger the hand bag, the more we will hoard in there.

For only €1.69 this lipstick beats my €25 Chanel of which I don't even like the scent of. I am not the rosy scents kind of girl. Too much grandma factor there for me. I am very sensitive when it comes to scented make up, especially lipsticks. If I don't like the scent, the lipstick can have the most beautiful color, I still won't wear it. My nose is too close to my mouth, and I have a highly developed sense of smell.

For the German SmoonStyle readers; go check out this lipstick at your nearest Rossmann. For the international readers that will visit Germany and are looking for an affordable red lipstick, this is definitely your pick when you come to visit us.

What are your favorite drugstore red lipsticks that you are loving this moment? My favorite matte lipstick is Revlon's 'Really Red'. I wore it on the 'Vancouverite' blogpost. Which is your favorite lipstick when it comes to scent? Mine are Rival de Loop Red Earth and the Maybelline Super Stay 14 hour lipsticks. My high end pick would be the YSL Sheer Candy mmm.

Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Red kisses,

Hello sweets,

During the summer of 2012 I was asked by QVC to film a tutorial for the QVC BEAUTY website. It was a lot of fun to record these tutorials. They were my first make up tutorials ever and completely in German. In the mean time I have made another 'Day to Night' tutorial for you (again in German) which you can find here; Tages zum Abend Look.

If you want to find out which products I used, please go to QVC BEAUTY. Hope you enjoy and found it useful!

Love,
