SMOONSTYLE

Yesterday, May 9th was officially 'Mother's Day'.
I deliberately wanted to write a blogpost the day after ;) Today is also 'Mother's Day'. Tomorrow and the days after that will also be Mother's Day, just as every day is Father's Day.

That doesn't mean that I don't love to get a little bit more TLC  on the 'official' day.
Vincent made me a sweet drawing, which I posted on Instagram Stories. Oliver made a nice brunch that was waiting for me after my weekly Yoga session.

While I was practicing Yoga, the doorbell rang. I received the most beautiful bouquet of white roses from my L'Oréal team. So sweet and thoughtful! I hardly buy flowers for myself, with the exception of tulips every now and then. Thank you L'Oréal team!!!!

This beautiful body vase caught my eye a couple days ago. I just fell in love with it and had to get it.
I left it on it's own for a while, not knowing what to do with it. I thought about putting some dried flowers in it, or just leave it. I do love minimalistic style. Not when it comes to lipsticks, though ;) Although, I have been decluttering a lot lately. Corona made me do it ;) More about that in a different post.

Today I put some of the white roses inside the vase. It was as if it was meant to be. The female body as a vase for flowers, a beautiful symbol for how wondrous and full of life the female body is.

A metaphor for life and for 'Mother's Day', all day, every day.

I hope that all mothers out there got a little extra love yesterday.

Remember, you are all amazing!

Love from Mama Simone

The day started with an email that my first train was cancelled, 15 minutes before the taxi was going to pick me up to take me to the train station.

With the cancellation of my first train ride, I knew that I wouldn't be able to make the connection of the other trains. The German train system is not like the Dutch where you can take the next train in 30 minutes or 1hour.

I like to think in solutions and not in problems. If I where to describe myself I would say that I am pragmatic. It has come in handy many times in my career so far.

I knew that the only way for me to make all the train rides was if the taxi driver would bring me little further than planned. The taxi driver was kind enough to bring me to the second translation where an ICE would take me to the next stop. At first the taxi driver said that he had another customer, but he found a solution for that. He was my hero! I was going to make it, at least that is what I thought....

Things were looking good. I had enough time to catch the longest train ride of my journey. There was even enough time to get some snacks for the journey ahead. I got my favourite treats from my home country and made my way to the tracks. There was still more than enough time.

The next train switched tracks last minute and as the ICE arrived, the doors opened and as I wanted to put my bags in the train, the train closed the doors. I knocked on the door and tried to open the door.  Then I heard the engines started running and the train took off without me...

I did everything I could to make it to that train and then it left one minute after it arrived. Right in front of my face... In my 20+ years of traveling by train, I never experienced that! No one checked if all the passengers made it on board, they just took off...

My next connection was in 2 hours, and I really had to go to the bathroom.
I went to check where the bathroom was, and it was down a couple of stairs... I have a lot of bags with me and can't schlepp them down the stair cases.
The lady at the counter of the Dutch train service was kind enough to keep an eye on my bags.

In the end I consider myself lucky that I didn't load one of my bags in there and that the train would take off with my bags. That is actually one of my travel nightmares.....

Do you have any travel nightmare stories to tell? Let me know in the comments.

It has been one week since the release of Omega, our eight studio album.  With the release of the album, our fourth single 'The Skeleton Key' was also released.

We are all overwhelmed with the positive response to our music and also ours videos. You guys are the best!

We shot the video in the same period as 'Abyss of Time', with the polish video production team Grupa 13. The Skeleton Key was the first video we shot and after that we recorded AOT.

The scene in the bed looks so serene, but all I could think of was going to the toilet. My bladder was about to explode! The building was so huge and the whole team was ready to go, so I didn't dare to ask if I could use the bathroom... haha

Th last scenes that we shot, were with the beautiful owl. I don't remember the gender of the owl, but I do remember how heavy she/he was, (I will say she from now on). I should have done more weight lifting before this shoot ;)

Her 'mommy' who had her since she was a baby was also there the whole time. In between takes, she would hold her and they cuddled with each other.

The beautiful costumes were by Katarzyna Konieczka

Make up was done by Olga Zieba I loved looking at what she had in her makeup kit. After the shoot I went to buy some items that she used for me, because I can never have enough makeup ;)

After losing two cats, I became very cautious about becoming too attached to a new furry friend. Loki was our neighbor's cat but he loved to visit us almost every day. It was the perfect solution for us. No strings attached, just casual visits from our feline friend.

No matter how hard I tried to not get too attached and reminded myself how painful it is to lose a furry friend, I became very attached to him. He became a part of our family. Vincent also grew very fond of him, especially during the pandemic. They played a lot together with the rope that you see in the photo, or Vincent's bathing robe tie haha. He also loved to go crazy with hair ties as well.

Last week we found out that Loki was going to move away to a new house and it was at that very moment that when they took him away, that I ran into them. I was shocked and didn't really get to say goodbye or prepare for the fact that he was going to leave. Maybe it was for the better? Like ripping off a bandaid at the count of 2 instead of 3?

I love this picture that I took of him and I hope that he will be happy at his new place.

 'Break loose from the chains.
Rise above the waves.
Fighting in the darkness.
Dancing in the light.'

Our third single 'RIVERS' is finally released! It is one of my favorite songs from our upcoming new album 'OMEGA' and I love how the video turned out! It fits the song perfectly in my opinion.

The video was recorded in October in a studio close to my house and some scenes were recorded in Belgium shortly before we had our press day in the Netherlands.

Jens and I were the only ones in the studio. I had to do hair and make up and be my own stylist. I don't mind doing that at all. I enjoy the process of getting ready, playing with makeup and getting tangled between too many hair extensions. I suck at doing my own hair and am very limited. Thanks to Marino, I now have a little bit of experience with inserting hair extensions.

As you can clearly tell, we went for the color blue. Blue dresses, blue makeup, and a bucket filled with water :)

Heile also came by to say hi and he helped with the water scenes. He was the one that was pouring down the water that is flowing between my hands. Fun fact is that we used warm water and it felt like someone was peeing in my hands haha! You don't see me laughing in the background, luckily ;)

I gathered all the blue makeup that I could find in my collection and played around a bit until I was happy with the right shade. This means layering many products to created depth.

My first look was a blue glitter liner. I gradually build up the look by adding more blue eyeshadow and eventually creating a blue unibrow with MAC Cosmetics 'Clarity'.

If my memory serves me right the products that I used to create the look:

Urban Decay 'Moondust' palette 'Vega'
Glitter Fever Liner L'Oréal (limited edition)
CYAN and BLACK Lip Mix from MAC
Glitter Kryolan
BH Cosmetics Desert Oasis 'Hot Spring'
Natasha Denona 'Metropolis Palette'
Stila Magnificent Metals pressed eyeshadow 'Kitten'
Linda Hallberg 'Famous' Fantastick
Linda Hallberg Cosmetics 'Infinity Glass'
Silver leaves flakes and lot's of eyelash glue
Gypsy Shrine Glitters 'Dark Unicorn Chunky Glitter'
Eyelashes were gifted to me by Kika

For the last look where I went completely crazy with all the blues. I just took all the shades of blue eyeshadow that I could find and mixed them together with glitter using the Linda Hallberg Cosmetics 'Infinity Glass'. It was a nice bluey gooey mess in the makeup room.

We only had one chance to get the shot, because, with this amount of makeup that needed to be removed, it would have taken up a lot of time. Luckily we nailed it! We got the shot after the first take.
Great teamwork with Jens!

After the last shot, it was time for me to take off the makeup and apply a more natural look before getting some sushi. The silver leaves flakes I glued onto my neck with eyelash glue didn't want to come off.
I had dinner in the sushi restaurant, looking like a fish myself ;)

Maybe if I find the time I can make a little video tutorial of the 'glitter eyeliner' and 'the blue unibrow'.  Let me know in the comments if you would like that :)

There is no established scientific link between the full moon and sleep patterns. How is it possible that I have difficulties sleeping during a full moon? I sleep with an eye mask, so I don't notice that it is brighter outside. The last time I couldn't fall asleep, it felt as if I had electricity coursing through my body.

Maybe it is because we wrote a song called 'Cry of the Moon'? ;)

Do any of you have this as well? I know that I am not the only one. Some of my friends have the same and also couldn't fall asleep until after 3.00 AM...

The jacket that I am wearing is from Promod and is faux fur of course. Do you remember the shoot in the Nürnberger Forest many years ago? Still love this jacket. Real-life polar bear ;)

What do you do to fall asleep when you have difficulties falling asleep?
