SMOONSTYLE

Hello lovely people!

I hope you are all doing well! We had a lovely summer holiday. A couple of days in the Netherlands visiting family and friends and a couple of days at the Bodensee (Picture Post is coming soon).

One of my favourite items in my suitcase is the Stella Jumpsuit from Les Lunes
Recently I have become quite fond of jumpsuits. In one of my latest blog posts I have pointed out the fact that it is hard to go to the bathroom when you're wearing a jumpsuit, but this jumpsuit is very easy to get out of ;)

Les Lunes is a company that is originally from sunny California that is now based in Berlin, Germany.
It is a slow fashion brand that is focused on creating high quality iconic fashion favourites with the softest fabric. Here you can read more (in German) About Les Lunes

The Stella Jumpsuit is made out of 5% elastan and 95% bamboo viscose, which makes it incredibly comfortable to wear and also easy to undress when you have to run to the bathroom ;)
The cut of the Stella neckline also makes a great outfit for mothers who are breastfeeding.

Other pieces that I own from Les Lunes are the high waisted legging and Alena body, which I have in black and I also ordered one in white as well. These are classic colours that you can combine with so many other garments.

All jumpsuits, bodies and leggings come in a variety of colours. You know me, I like always go for black. Can't go wrong with black in my opinion.

With code SIMONESIMONS you can get 44% discount on all items in their online (only in Germany).
They have added a new jumpsuit and t-shirts as well. I might have look myself ;)

Happy Shopping!

Time to pull out the bright colours! I was in the mood for a full green smokey eye.

After I started to play with all the green eyeshadows that I could find, I found an old Make Up Forever Aqua Cream in the most beautiful colour green. For sure it is older than 10 years, but MUFE has great quality products.

I removed my first make up look and started fresh with a layer of Emerald Green as a base. I had to work fast because I noticed that the cream was setting faster than it normally would due to the fact that it wasn't brand new anymore ;)

For many years I have used MUFE Aqua Creams in '01 Anthracite' and '03 Silver' as a base for my smokey eyes on the stage. These are bullet proof products that have lasted me for years and didn't budge while I was jumping up and down on the stage.

List of Products used:

Base

Revlon Colorstay 180 & 330
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter 04 (my holy grail product)
Maybeline Age Rewind Concealer Buff and Fair
Laura Mercier Translucent setting powder

Eyes

Make Up Forever Aqua Cream 22 Emerald Green (discontinued)
Natasha Denona Metropolis Palette color 'Jubilee'
Natasha Denona Gold Palette color 'Python' in the crease
Urban Decay Moondust palette color 'Lightyear'
L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Waterproof mascara

Lips

Clinique Chubby Stick 'Whole Lotta Honey'

BN2 on the left and BN3 on the right.
€30 difference in price, but in my opinion worth it to get the bigger one.

A lot of make up and hair stylists carry a Mason Pearson hair brush in their kit. The thing that held me back from purchasing one was the price. They cost quite the penny. After some consideration, I was willing to make the investment to see what the fuss was about. They are considered an invenstment, so you should be getting your moneys worth over the course of many years.

Is it really worth the money?

My first purchase was the Mason Pearson version BN3 (€70,00) in 2018, which is the smaller one. It is travel friendly and not such a big investment as the bigger brother BN2 which is about €100,00. I thought it was a safer bet in case I wouldn't like it.

I own many hair brushes, mainly Tangle Teezers that are lying all over the house and living in my sports and hand bags. The tiny combs that fit in my small handbag are great for taking care of my hair when I have my middle parting is nowhere to be seen and needs to be straightened when I am on the go and not want to carry a large handbag.

For some reason my Mason Pearson brush was MIA for a while and seemed to have gotten lost in my swimming bag, that then went into the closet for a couple of months. I was afraid that I had lost it during a tour. You can imagine the joy when I rediscovered it!

I wanted to make a blog post about this brush a while back, but then when I lost it, I thought I will put the blog post in the closet as well ;) When I found it, I fell in love again and started to think about buying the bigger brother.

A little bit about Mason Pearson:

The Mason Pearson brushes are made in London. The company was born in 1885.

The genuine Mason Pearson pneumatic rubber cushion hair brush invented by Mason Pearson in 1885. Mason Pearson have established a unique reputation for hair brushes. The reason for this is partly in the design and partly in the versatility of the brushes.  The design consists of  unique spired tufts of boar bristle, bristle-and-nylon mixture, or nylon, set in a pneumatic pad so that every tuft penetrates right through to the scalp. Brushing the hair cleans and polishes it and stimulates the scalp all at once, lifting away dirt and dust and distributing the natural oil from scalp.

The small one is convenient for traveling, but for everyday use I found the handle too short and overall the brush too small for all that hair that lives on top of my head. I also ordered a funny looking cleaning comb that looks like the tools my parents use to lose up the soil. When the package arrived I had to laugh, because it was so tiny! I wasn't expecting that at all. At first I didn't even see it in the box....

My opinion is that it makes the hair super shiny, is gentle to the hair. My hair breaks less when I use this brush. It is also great for brushing out curls, hair that has been teased.

At the end of the day it is up to you if you want to make such an investment. For me, my hair is important and I like to take extra good care of it.
I often curl my hair and I find this brush to be the best to maintain the curls for a longer period.
On top of that when I use it, I feel like Dante Gabriels painting of Lady Lilith brushing her hair with a fancy hair brush.... ;)

Here is a guide to help you choose your brush, since there are three different brush types.

Choosing the right hairbrush

Would you spend that much money on a hairbrush?

This little fella is our neighbours cat. He has adopted the whole neighbourhood and has become a part time family member. His name is Loki and he looks a lot like a Norwegian forest cat, but mixed with some other breed as well.

Since he is allowed to go outside, he likes to hunt. A lot.... Birds, rats, mice you name it.
We have seen many deceased animal inside and out. I know a lot about the anatomy of many animal that he has delivered to our doorstep. A couple days ago there was a gut wrenching stench coming from our balcony. It was a decapitated rat covered in flies........

Today was one of those days where we received a present from our furry friend and the removing of the dead animal was not that easy....

A pigeon was reported missing earlier today and was carried in our living room by Loki, the Jägermeister. That is one of many names that I gave him. I tried to scare him outside, but he wanted to devour the pigeon inside our house. With the help of some paper I managed to bring the bird outside and hid him in the bushes, so I thought....

A couple minutes later, Loki was sleeping on our balcony. I didn't suspect anything. After hearing some suspicious sounds from underneath our balcony couch, I decided to have a look.
There was the bloody (literally and figuratively) pigeon again. This time without a head. The first time I removed the dead pigeon, he only had a bite mark on his chest.

Again I went outside and hid the pigeon. Like the first attempt, Loki followed me and knew where I hid it.

Oliver prepared our dinner and as for dessert, Loki laid the remainders of the pigeon right on the doormat.
I could see what the pigeon had for his last meal. While trying not to puke, Oliver and I collected the remains of the bird and put it in a bag and in the trash....

I wonder if Loki thought that I was playing hide and seek with him, or that maybe like you do with dogs; throw the ball and catch it to return it to your buddy....

Over the last couple of years I have had my fair share of collecting living and dismembered animals that were caught by our cats.... A lot of midnight adventures trying to save a mouse, that then after I saved it jumped off the staircase to its death. Called my neighbours in the middle of the night to help me get rid of a bloody toad, which I thought was dead, but then was still alive bleeding all over our carpet.....

I love Loki, but this part is kind of messy of having a part time furry friend. I know he likes to show his affection and bring us little dead things, but at the same time I feel sorry for those animals.
He does, however eat them and kills them quickly without playing with them.

Do any of you have cats that like to hunt and bring you dead, dismembered animals?
