Chanel Perfection Lumiere

by 15.7.14

Chanel's Perfection Lumiere is a new foundation in the land of Chanel.

The only Chanel foundation that I've used in the past is Vitalumiere Aqua. I liked it so much that I used it on my wedding day. A friend of mine was using Perfection Lumiere and I loved how it looked on her. I had to have it.

This foundation is supposed to be light weight, long wearing (15h), radiant and suitable for all skin types (oil free). A bottle of perfection.

I have sensitive combination skin, with the usual oily t-zone. I have a 'natural radiance' that I don't really like, at least not at that part of my face.

After I've applied the foundation with a brush, not my hands as Chanel suggests, I set it with loose powder, even though the finish is a bit powdery.

It is indeed light weight, but looks kind of caky and dry. The scent is not my favorite. If you love roses then the typical Chanel scent is for you. Luckily it wears off, along with the foundation...
15 hours of wear is correct, but not on the entire face. I do not find it a radiant foundation. The finish is matt and very powdery (sits visibly in the pores), still it doesn't tame my oily t-zone. I need to touch up in the middle of the day, but then again, don't all women with a combo skin?

My advice is that you shouldn't buy an expensive foundation without trying it. First ask for a sample or have them apply it on your skin in the shop.

For me, this is not perfection in a bottle. My Manhattan Endless Stay foundation and L'Oreal Eau de Teint do a much better job and don't wear the same price tag.

    Hi dear Simone,

Well, I live in Brazil and due to that, Chanel products are really expensive because of the high taxation in my country. I know this "natural radiance" you are talking about. I just hate it because like you, I need to touch up in the middle of the day. I have combination skin as well which makes even worst to find a good foundation. Now, I am wondering if you have ever tried to use BB creams or CC creams. I got one asian BB cream and I must say it's really good even for combination skin.

    A big huge from Brazil,

    1. I tried a CC cream from Clinique, and I must say that I loved the results, it looks wonderfully. I have the same issue as you, btw :)

  4. Hi ! I'm crazy about the "Clinique" fondations !
Chanel makes some good products, but sometimes, I'm desappointed, especially with the BB Cream... :/
But this one seems to be really good :)

  6. This is a really helpful review to those who'd like to try this out, I've always thought about asking for a sample before buying really expensive stuff. Will you ever make a review about the Vitalumiere Aqua? or let us see an example of your wedding make-up? :)

I liked your new design! very simple, fresh and clean ;)

I also have normal to combination skin with an oily T-zone, I would really love to know if you have some tips or recommendations how to keep the foundation of the nose area, especially in these hot summer days...

  7. I also had a disappointment in a recent foundation purchase. I had bought a Mac studio finish foundation- and when I got home with it, even after blending with some concealer the color was just wrong-too yellow. And it was my fault for making assumptions based on a name. Anyway foundations that really work for me are Make Up For Ever Pro-Finish (dual finish powder) in 110 Pink Porcelain, and for more coverage, L'Oreal True Match in Porcelain W1. If I'm using the L'Oreal I usual add a little bit of the Make Up For Ever powder on top.

  8. Vitalumiere Aqua worked very well for me too. Maybe because we have the same type of skin. But still, for everyday use I prefer tinted moisturisers. The Sun in Greece is too intense, makes the lightest type of makeup look like a mask...awful! I know it's irrelevant to the article , but my biggest problem is this: I cannot find a good moisturiser for combination skin. They are either too heavy or too light. Being a lactic acid freak, I tried the PRIORI Skin Renewal cream. It worked like magic, but it's pricey. I was wondering if you found a more economic solution. 'Cause my Korres moisturiser with Yogurt was discontinued.

For me is so hard find a foundation that match perfectly with my skin, They are always very dark or orange!!. Finally i found one (product local) that's perfect for me. Any ways i spend a lot of money in useless foundations (at least for me). I like that you post about products that disappoint you is good to know that not all expensive products are "that good"
