SMOONSTYLE

There must be so many people out there that know the typical Nivea sunscreen scent and connect it to their holidays. You can now go on a holiday without packing your suitcase ;)

Nivea has a new perfume and it is no surprise that it is a huge hit. The original perfume is already residing in my make up corner since a while. When I saw that the new version is called Nivea Sun, I went online and ordered two bottles. Obsessed much? Yes! Sometimes you don't want one, because you know you are going to love it and will keep one in the bed room and handbag.

I trust Nivea blindly, because their scents are one of my all time favorites out there. I love a scent that smells like soap or in this case sunscreen. That sounds a bit weird, but I love to smell clean. Maybe because I have been on tour with smelly guys half of my life. No, haha! I am joking of course.

This time I decided not to juggle the eau de toilette on my shoulder, but place it high in the sky or in between my tropical looking plants. What do you guys think? Which photo represents holiday more for you?

You can order your 'holiday in a bottle' here: NIVEA SUN

My alarm went off at 4.00. Of course I was already awake long before that. I hate that feeling when you have an early flight and you are afraid of not hearing the alarm. You sleep super light and basically not at all haha!

Cannes is always a highlight I am looking very much forward to. The combination of movies, make up, France, good food and lovely colleagues always makes the Cannes Film Festival the place to be for me. Luckily I was invited by L'Oréal to be a part of it once more.

The view from my hotel room. I had to lie down and take a nap, because I was just too tired to enjoy the rest of the day. I needed to recharge my battery a bit. The sun was shining and my bed was soft. Honestly I suck at napping. My body is always rebelling against it, or maybe it is my mind? The excitement and thought of missing something always keeps me wide awake, but in a tired mode haha.

After my nap I went to check out the pool at our hotel. The two lovely Palme sisters were having a photoshoot at the pool and kindly offered to take some photos of me. If you look closely, you can see them in my sunglasses.

The jacket that I am wearing is from Muuba and the sweater from Christian Berg Woman (got it at Peek and Cloppenburg), trousers from H&M and sunglasses from Calvin Klein.

The pool was really cold and I found out the hard way. When I was entering the pool area, I didn't see that the entrance was a little shower area where filled with water you could wash your feet. I walked straight into it with my shoes..... Another mister Bean moment for me.. I blame it on the short night.

Enjoying some relaxing time. Katrin and Patrizia Palme and me were the first ones at the hotel. We had some time to enjoy the sun before the rest of the bloggers and journalists arrived. We had a lovely lunch at the hotel and after that some girls went to Cannes to walk along the Croisette and enjoy some snacks. Of course we had to pay a visit to the local Sephora. I almost got some eyeshadows, but I stayed strong and left the shop without any products.

Meet Johanna from Fashionstyle by Johanna. We share the same sense of humour and always have a good time whenever we meet at events. The dresses at the Croisette were really beautiful, but the price not so much. Luckily there is Instagram and we took a photo with the dresses. It was the cheaper solution.

We were presented all the new products that L'Oréal is launching at the moment. The new eyeshadow really are amazing. In total there are 36 colors, but what I heard is that there will be 24 colors in Germany.

Some of my favourite colors from the new Eyeshadow Color Queen Oil Shadows. They come in 3 different finishes; foil, matte and satin. Each finish has a different print on them.

Johanna already taking photos of some of my favourite products, the Glow Cherie series.

Glow Cherie Fluid

Val Garland was also there to create a look with all the new products. I love that she likes to experiment with colors, textures and uses products on other areas on the face. She doesn't look what it says on the tube, she creates and says there are no rules to make up. Have fun and go for it!

Time to walk the 'Worth it Stair's and take lots of photos and videos. Of course I cannot stay serious for too long. I always have to do something silly. The child in me never grew up. I am proud of that hahah!

All the yoga classes finally came to good use. See how flexible I am? ;)

 Slightly more serious pose.

After our lunch at the beach we went to the L'Oréal Villa. Philipp Verheyen (make up artist from Lena Meyer-Landrut) and Eren Bektas created gorgeous make up and hair and after that we got to enjoy the villa, drink too many cocktails and almost fall asleep with make up on.

This is before I had too many cocktails, and also unfortunately the only photo I took of my dress.

To be continued

Bananas are not only super tasty, they look great on a T-Shirt as well! If the shirt is yellow as well it is even better. The trousers are very flattering and on top of that comfortable!

Stuttgart has a large Peek and Cloppenburg store at the Königstraße where you can shop until you drop. I saved my visit to P&C until the last part of my day in Stuttgart with Vincent, so my energy was pretty much spent, and so was Vincent's. He was very helpful at finding this outfit. He knows that I love black and yellow. He also is a big fan of bananas just like his mama. Don't all kids love bananas? Well, this big kid too ;)

Outfit

- T-Shirt from Jake's at Peek and Cloppenburg >    Bananas Shirt
- Trousers from Opus at Peek and Cloppenburg >  Similar Highwaist Trousers

What is the price you are willing to pay to wear beautiful garments that are ill-fitting? Some years ago, I would squeeze myself in uncomfortable corsets during Epica shows, but after my pregnancy, all I want to wear now are beautiful clothes, but most importantly, they have to be comfortable.
I am only willing to wear uncomfortable clothing for photo- and videoshoots. There is nothing more annoying than constantly having to pluck your clothes during a show, or even during a normal day. It is the same with high heels. I love the way they look, so I wear it on stage. Off stage, I rarely wear them anymore. Ok, back to the dangerous dress.

It is no secret that I adore sequins, glitters and anything shiny. It fits our ‘Holographic Principle’ theme really well. It could be that I was a magpie in my previous life...This dress, which is covered with beautiful symmetrical sequin lines is somehow uncomfortable in a way I never ever experienced before.

While searching online for a dress for the Cannes Film Festival, I found this gorgeous dress.  It was a size too big and also made for taller women than me. I am quite short for Dutch standards.

When I unwrapped it, I immediately fell in love and wanted to see how it would look like once I’ve put it on. The dress fitting soon resulted in a photoshoot in my studio. Let’s say I got a little bit carried away with taking photos. The dress was so inspiring that I wanted to try different poses, some in color and some in black and white.

The dress looked stuning in the photos, and I was set on keeping it, but some houea later during the evening I started to experience some discomfort on both my lower arms. The pain was especially excruciating around my elbows. As soon as I lifted my sweater, I saw that my arms were completely red from several bloody cuts. It looked like I was attacked by a couple of hungry alley cats. The skin on the back part of the lower arms is particually sensitve. My mushroom cooking skills have tought me that a while back. I still have scars from when I burned myself with hot oil as I threw the mushrooms in the pan....

The pain was uncomfortable, because both of my arms were injured and for some reason my whole body was feeling weird.
Before I realized that my arms were bleeding, I thought I was coming down with a cold, because my whole body ached and I was feeling fatigued.
During the photoshoot I was so distracted, because I was in photoshoot mode, that I didn’t notice the dress was cutting me several times.

I knew that, no matter how much I loved the dress (even though it was too big), I would never wear it again. Can you imagine wearing this dress at a fancy dinner party and all of the sudden your arms are bleeding all over the dinner table?

Fact at the end of this story is that I still love to wear beautiful dresses, just not the ones that try to kill me ;)

I would love to know your crazy clothing stories in the comments!
